Default what makes auto tranny slip?

I was drivng and all the sudden i felt gears start to slip and CEL came on. now, gears slip so bad and on a hill car will roll down. i dont know much about auto tranny. what could be wrong? it's 97 accord with 200k.

Considering its an accord you might want to try the accord forum.

Hows the fluid, the hydraulic pressure could be to low.

fluid level is fine. how can i check the pressure?

check the clutch plates, if the tranny has been dogged, or is increadibly used, these need to b replaced

By a helms, there are usually spots on the trans to screw a gauge in to.

Take it to the dealership, my auto tranny started slipping and there was something horribly wrong with it I had the fluid replaced 6,000 miles before and it had already gone bad, he was like wtf, took a look at it, drove it around, and said 'you'll need a new transmission'. What is the tranny doing?
