Re: Want to permanantly turn off CEL (NYCALIX)
is there such thing as slightly "tricked-out"?
the easiest thing to do is just pull the blub out, but do notice your car would probably wouldnt go to close loop while cruising

If you're looking to do this for inspection / emissions issues, forget about it.
One of the insidious little "side effects" of the switch to OBD2 Engine Management Systems is How the test is administered. It isn't.
Unlike OBD1 systems, there is no pipe up the exhaust, no dyno run etc. The technician does no more than plug the test equipment into the data port and proceeds to interogate the ECM directly.
It comes down to a very simple: "Is everything working?", and the ECM doesn't lie.
In this case, it might fail because it senses the bulb's out

o2 simulator will not prevent the car from throwing a code. The OP is the reason why the state laws are getting so strict about modifying cars. Put the cat back on the car.........
To the OP
Are you so inconsiderate that you will pollute the air for your slight increase in HP?

running no cats is stupid. its not doing anything positive to the power of your car, unless you are runing some ridiculous setup (aka, race car). just put some high flow cats on, plug in the O2 sensors again, and call it a day

Along with your pollution (and no we're not tree huggers...we drive accords after all) you're also totally missing the point that by fixing your "obnoxious" CEL you won't be able to tell if you really do have a problem. And no an H22 swap or a turbo still doesn't justify running a straight pipe IMO...neither does being a redneck but that's another issue.
Merry Christmas all (and yes that's Merry Christmas not this happy holidays BS)!

Won't work on an OBD2 system. One of the things that the ECM looks for in O2 sensor signals is a varying value of cross-counts (the number of times the sensor signal values shift from rich to lean to rich) within a specific period of time.
The simulator doesn't provide this.
It may Keep the lamp from coming on, but the cross-count number is checked.
