Valve adjustment for 93 Accord EX?
The car has 71k miles on it. Runs fine but not getting the expected gas mileage. I did the full tune up already, change dis. cap&rotor, spark plug wires, spark plug, fuel filter, and air filter. I get about 240 miles on 11.5 gallon, half city, half highway.
Only thing I havn't done is get the valve adjusted. Do I knew a valve adjustment? The mechnic told me the only time I needed one was when the valve made "ticking" noises, which is not currently doing. But I am not satisfy with how the car is right now. Will I benefit from doing the valve adjustment? Should I get one done and if so, how much will it cost at Honda?

Dang, only 71K on a '93?
You might want to try a fuel injector/system cleaning additive.
Honda recommends valve adjustment be checked every 30K, maybe even every 15K?

what? you've never adjusted your valves? or you haven't used an injector cleaner?
you can tell when you need to adjust your valves when the F22 motor begins to sound like a diesel motor...

I've never noticed a difference after using those injector cleaners.
But a test drive of my friend's 92 teg before, and after having the injectors professionally blueprinted gave a nights and days difference. The car doesn't hesitates anymore and gas mileage was a lot better.
might be a bit on the pricey side (I think he paid like $130 for the job), but at least it works

You guys said that when it sounds like a diesel, they should be adjusted. Well, mine does, but a mechanic listened to it and said I dont need it. I have 127k on my car and bought it at 113k. I dont know if they have ever been adjusted. My gas milage sucks *** too. What would you guys recommend?

Actually, it was the owner of a service shop that sees moded imports daily. All I see is goddamned fart-pipe civics and riced out integras when I go there.
