Default Upper control arm replacement.

Hey,

I am about to replace both front upper control arms. The ball joints are getting worn out.
The Haynes manual says to remove the coil/strut assembly for that.
Is it really necessary? It seems like I can do it without this step?

Are there any other small parts that I need to order that wont come with the upper arm?

Accord EX Coupe 99.

Thanks a lot!

You don't have to remove the strut, just remove the two bolts inside the engine bay. Then use a pickle fork or a pitman arm puller to remove the bolt end of the ball joint from the knuckle.
