Tuning up a 92 Accord LX that's been sitting for a year
Alright, here's the deal. I bought a 92 Accord LX about a year ago. It was clipped in the rear and had a salvaged title. Basically I had to change the suspension on the driver's side, weld a new dog leg next to the wheel well, replace the rear passenger door, blah blah blah. Anyways, it has been sitting for over a year now, and not once did I have it running. I was just curious as to what I would want to do to make sure the beast is all tuned up. I changed the spark wires and the spark plugs, and to be honest, I swear it runs worse now then it did before. I used Bosch wires and plugs, and I'm starting to wonder whether the freaking plugs weren't pre-gapped. I changed the oil of course, but I'm curious as to any other things I should be aware of. The car has 100,000 miles on it. I've gotten advice from several people, some telling me to change the distributor rotor and cap, some telling me to replace the O2 sensor, others saying to change the transmission filter and flush the tranny fluid and all other types of fun stuff. Regardless since I changed those plugs I can smell gasoline when I have the vents turned on, which is leading me to believe that the engine is wasting some of that expensive gas I put in her. Oh, and when I pulled the plugs they had oil on them. The oil isn't on the tip of the plug, just on the outside where the wire from the distributor attaches. This alarmed me at first, because my previous car was a Caddilac Coupe Deville, and when I found oil on the plugs I discovered my piston rings were shot. So I don't know what's the deal. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Oh, haha, and one more thing. When I got out of the car today there was a hissing sound coming from the gas cap. It sounded like air was either rushing in or out of it, and this is the first time I've heard a car do that. Not sure what's up with that?

for a year,
battery..
water removal additive...
wouldnt hurt to get some injector cleaner...
oil in spark plug ( check seals ) small orings (lower ones are annoying to install)
check all hoses, some might of cracked by now..
flush on radiator/motor/tranny just to be safe...
change all fluids.
im pretty sure theres more, thats all i can run up in my head for now.

change oil filter fuel filter air filter.
as he said change the O seals and valve cover seals. etc. check the timing on the distributor. while u are at it change cap and rotor(it will only help)
and basicly run the car for a while then see if u have any problems.
