Transmission???!!!

1991 Honda Accord Ex Automatic transmission issues!!!!
I have a 91 honda Accord 4speed automatic 2.2. I was driving home the other day from the hospital in Chapel Hill. As I'm going down the highway I'm driving abt 70-75 mph on cruise control, my gear slips out of what I'm guessing is the overdrive into neutral (thought I burned it up). I pulled over and saw I had a leak near the tranny seam in the middle. No one to come get me, so the only choice I had was to drive it home. It shifted fine, 1st, 2nd, 3rd,and when it went to 4th it slipped out again. Mind you everytime it went to 4th it was grinding. I took it to Walmart days b4 to get the oil changed and to see if I had anything else that needed changing or any other issues. At the time all of the issues occurred I checked the fluid and I had none, not even on the stick, so I knew that could mean trouble. But I drove it home in D3 thinking it wouldn't make it a bigger problem than already had. I called my brother the next day to see if he could diagnose it from describing what happened, and he told me it could be a couple of issues like the solenoids, the tcu, or jst the entire tranny from no fluid. I took the top solenoids off and cleaned them without taking it completely off, the best way I knew how. Now it's still having the forth gear issue, plus now I have no reverse, only thing that's good is that I hear no grinding at this point........ I really need my car I just don't know the next best option for me to do.

Re: Transmission???!!!
IIRC Reverse uses teh 4th gear clutch pack as well, that would explain the loss of 4th and reverse.
Verify the fluid is clean and full.
Driving with low fluid usually will just lead to no operation or slipping.
If the car was driven with low fluid at near threshold of operation, you may have just burnt up the clutch pack from an on/off fluctuation of pressure. Like driving an MT car at constant speed while constantly clutching in/out. There will be a slippage during release/application, that will cause heat and excessive wear.
If there is no fluid in the trans that is your problem, don't blame solenoids or TCM when the obvious culprit is lack of fluid.
