Torque Specs to help with Auto Tranny Install
Hi all!
I am desperately searching for torque specs for my car/year and can't seem to find them. I have downloaded a manual and checked online in a bunch of places but can't find anything that instills confidence in me as being accurate. I am in the last legs of replacing my failed automatic transmission on my 2001 accord 4 banger SULEV sedan. We have a rebuilt tranny in place and bolted up... just need some specs:
I am searching for torque specs for:
Flywheel bolts
Tranny-engine mounts
Axle nut
Ball Joints
I suppose the flywheel bolts are the #1 torque spec I am needing. I saw 75.5lb listed, and when we tried that it started to round the bolt and we were too freaked out about snapping one off.

Driveplate(flexplate) bolts to the crankshaft(use correct 12pt socket) are 54lbft(74N-m) This is a differnt spec from the MT cars.
Tighten bolts in a criss cross pattern.
Driveplate(flexplate) bolts to the torque converter(6mm shank w/10mm heads) are only 8.7lbft(12N-m)
Install all the bolts first do not tighten, then tighten them to ~4lbft(finger tight) and then again to 8.7lbft. You want the TC to be flat and concentric to the flexplate.
There are a few different sized bolts and brackets.
Rear mount bracket bolts 12mm bolts are 40lb-ft(54N-M) and the 10mm bolts are 30lbft(44N-m)
Bellhousing bolts are 47lbft(64N-m)
Transmission mount bracket nuts are 28lbft(38N-M)
Transmission mount through bolt is 40lbft(54N-m), install but do not tighten until everything is aligned/installed properly to prevent misalignment.
Front mount(stopper) is 28lbft(38N-m) for the bracket to engine.
181lbft(245N-m)
Lower is 36-43lbft(49-59N-m)
Upper is 29-35lbft(39-47N-m)
I beleive that is the torque spec for the MT flywheel bolts, not the AT driveplate(flexplate) bolts. Two different bolts.

Awesome, thanks for all that info. I had a feeling those were the wrong specs for the flywheel. Much appreciated!

I have a 2013 4 cylinder EX-L sedan that looks like it is leaking from the torque converter cover. Does anyone know the torque specs on that? I'm having trouble finding it online.

You should ask this in the appropriate forum, this is for earlier ones. You want the 2013-2015 forum:
