Synthetic Brake fluid
Is Prestone Synthetic Brake Fluid an Ok fluid to use on a 1998 Accord? The bottle says "For all DOT 3 brake systems". The maunal does not say if a synthetic fluid is ok or not.

Sure it will work; it's best to totally flush out the old brake fluid.
As to the previous post Honda P/S fluid is all you should use in the P/S

I use the synthetic brake-fluid. It seems to stay cleaner longer. If the manual says use DOT3, and the synthetic is rated DOT3, you are good to go.
As mentioned, if the fluid is old and skanky, it would be a good idea to flush out all the old fluid and replace with all new. A shop manual will explain the procedure, and if the fluid IS old and nasty, I can almost guarantee better braking when you are done.
Honda PS fluid is the only way to go. I have seen some cheap PS fluid marked "Honda fluid", but the Honda fluid is superior, I can guarantee it. Sure, it is slightly expensive from the dealer, but have you priced a PS pump and steering-rack lately? These are full of seals, and the Honda PS fluid has conditioners to keep the seals pliable and working. Wrenchy

Re: Synthetic Brake fluid (wrenchy)
Any DOT3 or DOT4 brake fluid is safe for your car, that's how its designed. Do NOT use DOT5 as some may not like your car, has to do with the silicate junk in it.
I run Valvoline synthetic brake fluid, DOT3 and 4 compatible, available at autozone.
