I have a 1994 LX Accord. I want to do an engine (DOHC VTEC, 5 Speed Manual) swap. I also, want the easiest and most direct fit I can get. What year(s) & motor would work perfect for the swap. Will I lose power steering? and will the swap tranmission fit perfect to? Also whats the difference between the F20B and The H22 besides Litres? Thanks Guys!

The h22a would be the better choice, it has much more torque than the f20b and if u can find the h22a type s it has a red valve cover and has 220 hp instead of 200, but on the other hand if u wanna go with a unique swap then go with the f20b , the only problem would be finding parts

f20b has 11:1 CR....no good for turbo...

To answer your question both of these motors will swap in and you will be able to keep your P/S, A/C, etc.

H22 is good performance right off the bat, BUT is the worst choice for turbo seeing as it will require sleeving for any decent boost. Has a LARGE aftermarket following which is great though.

F20B is also a good choice but does have a high compression ratio. Lower that ratio with pistons and turbo is great! Iron Sleeves Rock!

Another option is the F22B. This also has iron sleeves which are great for turbo. It is also a lower compression ratio and is DOHC and NON-VTEC. This would be the PERFECT engine for a turbo setup.


H22-good power, great aftermarket parts following
F20B-good power, iron sleeves, high compression
F22B-less power,lower compression,non-VTEC,go TURBO

H23 is also a decent option, if i am not mistaken it is similar to the F22B, fairly low compression, iron sleeves, DOHC and non vtec. just our of curiousity does anyone know the main difference between these two motors?

Ill need to modify my power steering with an H22 Swap right? Also, Ill need ECU, Axles, and Tranny, but what year H22??? 92-96 Prelude H22?

If you use a 1996 power steering bracket off an H22A1, then you can use your power steering pump and lines. but the stock belt will be about 1-2 inches too long, so you'd obviously have to get another one fitted.

Assuming that you alreayd have a 5 speed, you can use your intermediate shaft and both side axles when doing this swap. your tranny will also fit the H22 but the gears on your F22 won't match up well with the H22 power band, unless you're going to go turbo on the H22. if you want to get your car BAR legal, you'd have to get a 94-95 H22 using all the USDM smog equipment such as: intake mani, exhaust mani, sensors, etc

any h22 ps bracket will work fine ...even the h23 will work with a bit of triming
