If the car rolls while in neutral, set the parking brake. Sometimes when you rely on the trans holding the car on a grade, the locking lever in the trans binds from the additional friction and becomes hard to disengage. It's usually announced as a quite audible "Bang' once it releases.

You may also be running afoul of the shift interlock system that locks the shifter in "Park" until you step on the brake pedal.

Let us know what you're experiencing

P

Set the &#%*$&( ebrake before you put it in Park. You're probably parking on a grade.

If it were the Shift interlock system, it would either work or it wouldn't. There is no forcing the lever out of Park if the solenoid hasn't released.

Make sure when you stop to park the car, that it doesn't want to roll forward or backward when you release the brakes. (let the car sit for a second in neutral with the brakes released and stop moving) before you put it in park.

...or like P said, set the e-brake so it won't move
