Reading computer code on a '99 EX?
A coworker has a ’99 Accord EX coupe, 5-speed transmission (I4 of course). How can he read the check engine light code? The dealer wants $75…
Is it a matter of sticking one of those keys that look like a tuning fork into some slot, counting the number of blinking lights, and looking the code up in a Haynes electrical book or somewhere else?

Yes exactly. Although you can just use a paper clip. Purchase a Haynes manual at Autozone for like $12. It is very self-explanitory, go for it!
