problems with new engine swap
I have a 96 Honda Accord that had a non v-tec motor in it and I switched it to an Accord v-tec motor. I did not change the top wiring harness because I was told that it wasn't necessary. My question is how do I find out what pinouts on my v-tec solenoid I can use a jumper wire to jump off of to my ecm? Also by not changing the wiring harness, what else might not be hooked up and how can I run them? Another ? minus the other stuff witout the v-tec hooked up I know the car will still run, but when I try to start it it turns over but gets no spark and doesn't fire, why? I would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

terminal #8 drives vtec solinoid valve.on the ecm.there should be only one pin connector on the solinoid itself.
i dont know if you changed your ecm with the engine or not.but just to verify the vtec terminal function at low engine rpm you will have no voltage at high rpm you will have battery voltage.
the more important question in this swap would be the no start problem.
what type of diagnostic methods have you used to narrow down to a spark problem? there shouldnt be any other differences in the wire harness. unless the engine is a ULEV. If you tell me the year of the engine the block code and whether or not either of the cars used automatics i can let you know for sure.
