porting intake and exhaust
has anyone done this, and if so how difficult is it to do by myself...i have access to the proper tools, and i'm not looking for a perfect cut or anything, as i know i am not able to do that, but it isn't something that needs to be perfect...anyways...i was just wondering who has done it and what kind of power value it is worth...i am doing this for preperation for a turbo on the f22b2...i want to make sure as much exhaust as possible is turning that turbo....

Re: porting intake and exhaust (Wont be beat)
.
You can bore a t/b out all you want but you'll have to have a throttle plate made.
Unless you can practice growing them.
Get a TB for $40 from Ebay and practice.

Re: porting intake and exhaust (niedejb)
thanks fellas....
edit: also, how much do you suggest that i bore out the exhaust?...i was originally thinking about completely taking out the little fin in between the two seperate exhaust ports and making it one large hole that the two valves feed into collectively...any input on that, or would it be to big?

* pshh whisper * h22 TB bolts up too f22 just port your intake plenum *pssh whisper*
and for an exhuast mod get rid of the stock o2 sensor housing replace it with somethin 2.25 or bigger but dont eliminate the spring bolts all together or youll tear **** up.

Re: porting intake and exhaust (Ideal)
the ports are the paths that the air and fuel or exhaust flow through...anyways, you can open these up to make them larger by grinding down the metal so that the air flows through the head more efficiently...that is a relatively simple explanation, but it works!

Re: porting intake and exhaust (nickh2k1)
just thought i'd add that just hogging out ports isnt the path to more power..... even flow between ports is essential and knowing flow dynamics etc.. theres definatly an art to it. however cleaning up the ports and giving them a nice mirror polish on the exhaust side, and a semi polish on the intake is a good idea.
dont mirror the intake though, a lil rough promotes fuel/air mixture.
