i have a 95 honda accord lx 2dr 5sp. just yesterday my car started acting really weird. i was on the freeway and when i turned by blinker on to get off the freeway my speedometer and tachometer both dropped down to zero, and everytime i used my blinker through town to get home the same thing would happen, along with my speedo and tach dropping my radio would cut out also. so i took my car straight home and let it sit for a few hours then i went out and tryed to start it and it barley cranked over, like my battery was almost dead, but after it started and it was just idiling my tach would jump up and go back down and then jump up and go back down, and again i would hit my blinker and the radio would cut out, plus my car had very little power (my lights were dim). well this was late last night and i didnt want to deal with it. so this morning i went out to try and start my car (not to drive it, just to see what it would do) and my battery was completyly dead, my car will not start. so please help me, what could be causing this problem, thanks.
Hi there.
Please re-charge your battery or replace it with a new one, once you have done this start the car (if you can) if it runs check your charging out put from the alternator with a multimeter you should get a reading 13.5 volts to 14.0 volts if it any less than that you might need to look at the alternator i.e check the drive belt....is it tight? if not tighten it and re-test your charge if it is still bad the alternator is fubar and get a new one if your charge is good you will have to check all your ground wires under the hood if bad replace.
good luck
