Nitrous too much for the 6th gen V6 tranny?
Hey just how weak is the V6 tranny? Ive heard that it is weak, but thats a very relative term. Is it able to handle nitrous or boost? What kind of upgrades are there to strengthen it?

yeah i got the progressive controller on my 96 h22a. But my friend has a 6th gen v6, but had some slippage problems recently. Honda says that it was just a bad alternator not getting power to the shift solenoid. But Im not sure thats the only thing. Now hes kinda scared to do any mods. Thanks though. Hell I dont even know how an auto works and what goes into the upgrades, unlike a clutch and flywheel for a manual.

u laughing cause i dont know how an auto works?...hehe...i dont. There was this tranny like oil in his exhaust that i dont know why it was there. No reason any oil should be there. Honda couldnt figure it out too.

lol...hehe...i tell it like it is. I know a lot about the h22a manual because i swapped mine and installed my nitrous with full ignition and progressive controller, but i dont even know how a damn auto works..hehe. Hell i dont even know how a auto doesnt stall at a red light. I could read about it but I dont want too...hehe. But why do people say that AV6 tranny is weak? What the hell does weak mean anyways?

Weak is hard to explain but just trust us it is very weak. There have been people who do not race and do not abuse their cars come up with broken Accord V6 trannys. One guy I know who works at the local honda dealer said that one guy had his original tranny go out on him then had it replaced under warrenty and was back after driving 10 yes 10 miles with a rebroken transmission. Auto transmissions seem to be hondas downfall as far as reliability and one thing that honda hasnt prefected yet. I would tell your friend to get a tranny cooler for it to keep the temps down in the tranny so maybe he can prevent causing any more damage. As for the NOS if he does it I would do everything comptech reccomends for the supercharger. Redline tranny fluid tranny cooler etc...

wow. How much does a new tranny cost? The reason I ask is because his warranty is up in 4k miles. And I know auto tranny's are not cheap. But is the tranny cooler a good idea? He was talking about it, but I didnt know if it was worth it for like $50. Thanks for helping

the guys over at http://www.v6accord.com will disagree with you 100% as they stated that the real failure rate is about 4% baed upon their polling data

dude straight up dont bother (no offence)... mo power mo problems ... just make it look nice and sound nice. If you nos it ...mo gas, need better brakes, need better suspension, and no point if you got stock wheels and tires. What im tryin to say is, to fully utilze something like nos you got to consider the other components that will be affected. Trust me everyday drivin V6 with a nice bodykit, wheels, drop, and a boomin system. If you want speed get a bike. PEACE

Re: Nitrous too much for the 6th gen V6 tranny? (sleeperaccordv6)
Ok comptech says to run their supercharger you NEED to replace tranny fluid with one of the Redline ATF fluid types (not sure which one as everyone tends to run a different kind). Also you need to get a tranny fluid cooler. Alot of people get the Hayden type but that one isnt all that great because it has the ability to overcool the tranny fluid. B&M makes a much better product and that is the brand that I got. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=10156 that is the link to it on summits web page.
