Default my accord LX vs 1995 accord EX

Ok guys now that I have DRIVEN both an LX and EX I can say I am much happier with my LX.

1. the EX does not have the accelleration advantage that everyone here claims
2. rides about the same
3. looks the same inside

quality inside and outside appears to be the same so to me I really do not see any difference....

I don't think anyone is ready for a rehash of this...

edit: EX for life.

you cannot just hop into an LX, drive it, then hop into an EX, drive that, and "feel" the difference... i mean, were both cars stock and unmodified..? both stick or auto..? get an SAFC for the LX and a VAFC for the EX and you will see the difference... besides SOHC VTEC, i believe the EX uses a different suspension, there's ABS, sunroof, alloy rims, color-matched side moldings, and an "EX" emblem, etc... the dealerships don't call the EX model "top of the line" for nothing... EX pride..!

i know SOHC VTEC isn't that great BUT it's better than nothing and im glad I have it. beside all the things accordexchange pointed out, the EX has a much better cloth pattern than the LX/DX. plus if you want to go with the h22 swap, the EX already has the vtec wires.

im glad i have an ex.

Allthough 15 horsepower and 3lbs torque may not seem as much, but with a good driver in the EX you will get you behind handed to you on a platter. Did you take it up to 6800 RPM? The V-tech Accord's have no bottum end, but once you get past about 4k it pulld pretty nice for a 3000 pound boat. I have driven the lx and it just doesn't have enough power up top, although the bottum end is fine.

actually its 8 lbs of turque my friend. and max tq is only 300 rpm's higher in the vtec accord so the bottom end cant be that different from the non-vtec.

actually my car will shift at 7K on my auto when my foot is in the floor

yes I did take it up to redline and yes the engine revs nice and smoothly but I failed to see the "awe inspiring" differnece that most LX owners claim...

I test driving the car to make sure it is good for my friend to buy and I ran it fairly hard.

actually, LX auto redline is at about 6800-6900, tach just shows 7 grand.
i know because with my 7000 rpm-limit chip in my msd, the car will still hit the factory fuel cut before the msd cuts the ignition.

yeah for some reason the LX feels like it has more low end torque, maybe its just because its a couple hundred pounds lighter. but my EX pulls pretty nicely in the higher rpms where the LX just dies off after 4500 rpm. but still, SOHC VTEC doesn't even compare to DOHC VTEC. DOHC VTEC is amazing, SOHC VTEC is alright but worth it IMO.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the LX trannies are geared alittle differently. The forward four gears are different I believe...which might correspond to 'feel' of pulling harder...

You probably wouldn't really notice MUCH of a difference as you would if you had an H22 or something, but it still feels quicker. Oh and this isn't english class so I don't give a rat's-*** about how I am supposed to spell vtec. Get a life bro.
