Map sensor
My car “misfires” or sputters when i high rev at 4rpm.. i disconnected my tps/map sensor & its fine... my question is has anyone ever replaced the sensor on the TB & if so was it worth it? Or is it better to just get a whole new TB... im very new to working on this car but i want to learn i just dont have a teacher.. google & youtube have been my friend.. thank you in advance
If the check engine light came on when you unplugged the TPS sensor, that does not mean it was the TPS. When the check engine light is on it puts your vehicle into "limp mode" and it runs off of a basic set of fuel and ignition tables without the use of most of the PGM-FI sensors. The throttle position sensor (TPS) and manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor are 2 different sensors. What one did you disconnect, or did you disconnect both?
What year is your Accord, and what engine does it have? A guess from your user name would be a 1990-93, I4 - 2.2L F22A* Non VTEC......
Was your check engine light on prior to you unplugging the TPS?
Did you have the ECU scanned for diagnostic trouble codes?
Does the check engine light flash when you rev at 4000rpm?

IF the swap was done properly a CEL is not normal. If all they did was swap the trans and not the ECU/TCU then it will never run 100%. So you are basically running in Limp Mode all the time and it probably won't allow you to run over 4000RPM. That is the limiter the ECU uses so that you do not do any damage to the engine running it with the CEL on.
See if you can use the Honda Self Diagnostic method (paperclip method) to read the codes the ECU has stored. Once you find out what codes you have, then you can prioritize them and start to troubleshoot accordingly.
In case you were unsure of how to check the codes on your OBD1 Accord
Where it is OBD1 there is no quick plug in tool to read the codes. It uses the Service check connector located in the passenger side footwell. It's commonly referred to as the paperclip method.
