Re: maintenance question (SLoWEk)
What is the year and model of it, and how many cylinders?
Does she have her owner's manual? If so, it will contain all of the required maintenance information.

Re: maintenance question (SLoWEk)
Timing belt is due at 105k on that car. Other than that without any idea of where she's at on keeping up with maintenance it could need a tune-up, tranny service or any number of things. Nothing specific really due at 100k though.

Re: maintenance question (under advisement)
Should be the same as for my ’99 LX then. For “normal” conditions:
At 90,000 what was due was:
Oil/filter
Air filter
Replace spark plugs (4 cyl only)
Inspect and adjust drive belts
Inspect front and rear brakes
Replace transmission fluid
Replace brake fluid
Check parking brake adjustment
Replace air conditioning filter (the cabin filter)
Visually inspect the following: tie rod ends, steering gear box and boots, suspension components, driveshaft boots, broke hoses and lines, all fluid levels and condition of fluids, cooling system hoses and connections.
At 105,000 the following are due:
Replace engine oil
Inspect valve clearance
Replace spark plugs (V6 only)
Replace timing belt, balancer belt (4 cyl only), and inspect water pump
Inspect idle speed
Replace engine coolant (flush & fill the radiator)
Inspect front and rear brakes
Check parking brake adjustment
The same visual inspection noted above (tie rod ends, steering gear box and boots, etc).
At 105,000 is the first time that it says to inspect the valve clearance, idle speed, and water pump as well as the timing & balancer belt replacements, that's not one of the "do this every time" things.
Send me an email with your address and I'll mail you a photocopy of the maintenance schedule for the '99 LX, should be the same as for the '98.

Re: maintenance question (vicious)
Welcome to the forum!
As for whether it would work in a Civic, in general, yes, but I'm pretty sure that the Civic has a different engine (I'm not sure though, I know nothing about Civics other than they are a little smaller than an Accord), thus the maintenance schedule might be a little different.
I'd love to help you if I could, but I really don't know anything about Civics. Try going to the Civic board and asking there, I'm sure you will get an answer quickly. Cut and paste my list from above, ask them to compare it to the owner's manual.
