Ignition Switch??
1991 Accord auto
Car starts everytime with the remote start but when I put the key in to bypass the brake switch, the car dies. I took the ignition switch out and it'll start with a screwdriver. As soon as I let off with the scredriver, it dies again.
Why will it start everytime with a screwdriver & remote start but not with the key?
Is my ignition switch bad?
I the switch wasn't like $60 I'd replace it right away. I'm just trying to get some knowledge from the Honda experts so I don't blow a bunch of money that I don't need to be blowing.
THANKS!

This statement points to the ignition switch;
Contacts on the back of the switch melted or dull looking solder joint?
Many times you can release very slowly and the engine will continue to run, as the contacts change position

Re: Ignition Switch?? (Mr Yamada)
Yeah, two of the soldering points looks like the solder has gotten hot enough to melt. None of the contacts are touching though.

Re: Ignition Switch?? (JONESER)
i just changed my ignition switch because of that, but my new one didn't have the little black plug that screwed into the key cylinder, and for some reason my headlights won't come on now. does urs have the little black plug?

Re: (gqstatus05)
ok i figured it out, on the top of my steering column there's a red and white plug, i didn't remember pulling it but it was kinda hidden, it controls the headlights, tail lights, and dimmer switch.
