I plan to flash power steering fluid for my 96 Honda Accord EX car. After reading some forums I think it is better way that remove old dirty fluid from return line and add new fluid to empty resevoir at same time with engine on and steering wheel turning lock to lock to avoid PS system dry (empty) running during PS fluid flash processing until clean fluid coming up from return line. It looks that need more new PS fluid to complete whole system PS fluid flash. I bought 4 bottle (12oz each) of Honda PS fluid from Honda dealer and may not be enough yet. I heard that one quart fluid just is enough for filling up empty PS fluid resevoir, so for sure that need more new fluid to flash whole PS sysyem. Do you have any experience about how much/how many quarts or bottles of new Power steering fluid need totally to complete whole PS system fluid flash by this way? Thank you very much!

When I replaced my power steering pump. All it took for me is two quarts of Honda pwr str fluid.

I have never done it that way of what you're describing.

Look for Valvoline HPS12, a bit less than the dealer.
