Hi,

I'm looking for Vehicle Speed Sensor(VSS) and reverse signal wires on my Honda Accord 1998 EX-V6 Coupe. I was told that

• VSS wire is on the ECM first plug(under passenger carpet). Blue/White wire.
• Driver side fuse box, Green\Blue wire.

Below is pic of ECM plugs. I think I have found the it, right?



And here is the pic of the fuse box. It seems like it has several Green/Blue wires, which one of them is the correct one?

VSS should be pinout C23 Blu/Wht.

Here is Autozone wiring diagrams (look at diagram 4) for VSS.

Reverse appears to be g/b in diagram 15 (?) in the Autozone link; but, I didn't find where that was.

Thanks for detailed description. It seems like I'm totally clear with VSS wire.

The last thing would be to find Reverse Wire.

BTW, is it safe to tap to these wires? I'm installing navigation, and it needs speed and reverse wires to be hooked up.

Based on the diagram, the reverse wire is attached to Fuse 9.
my question is, how do I know, which Green/Blue wire is connected to Fuse 9? it seems like there are couple of them, right? or no?

You probably got some installation instructions; but, here are some that may or may not give additional info.

On the Clarion navigation system manual, look at pages 67 - 69.

Should be okay to tap in to the VSS wire; but, make sure wires, connections, etc. are tight and insulated, etc. to prevent shorts which can mess up the ECM.

Thanks! This instructions were quite descriptive. However, I would be installing pioneer double din nav.

The last thing for me would be finding the reverse wire location.

On another forum, a guy suggested the following to find the reverse wire:

"For the reverse wire, simply go to the reverse bulb to see the colors of the wires. Usually one is black, and the other color is the one you want. Just test it with a meter to make sure you got it right. If you don't want to run a wire all the way to the trunk, remove the driver's side kick panel and sill plate, and look for the same color wire in the loom going to the rear. That is what I do when I install navi/video screens. It should read 0 volts at rest, and when the ignition is on AND the car is in reverse, it should read 12 volts (14 if the car is running, but you don't need the engine to be running)..."

Would it be safe if I test a wrong wire?

It should be relatively safe, as you are connecting the positive lead on the multimeter to locate the reverse wire to measure voltage. Just set the multimeter to DC volts at around 20V, and test.

You can play around with the multimeter and a low voltage 1.5 volt AA or AAA battery and switch the leads around and see what happens, it will show positive and negative voltage; but, no real harm.

Guys, I need your help again.
Right now was trying to tap to VSS wire, on C23 pin# which has to be Blue/White, but I just realized that there is no wire at C23 at all.

Please help to find the VSS wire for Honda Accord 1998 EX-V6.

This other link states it is the blu/white on the first plug, the same plug you pointed to in your first pic.
