Default HID conversion

I own a 94 Accord and have replaced the factory headlights with projector headlights. I was considering upgrading to HID lighting in the low beams. Does anyone know of a reliable brand to go with? Also has anyone done the conversion successfully? I've heard it should only take about two hours. Does anyone know of any brands I should or shouldn't go for? Thanks.

Here;s something you can do first.
Smash the projector lens coz they mess up you light pattern.
Phillip,Hella are some good brand.
Dont go too high in K's just for the color since you lossing
candlepower for the color.
What's so good about Katz? explain

alright man, first of all, just so you know...projector headlights are much much better for an HID setup...headlamps are too bright and tend to blind oncoming traffic...as for brands, i'd stick with phillips....they are reputable, quality, and nothing crazy....but i do agree with this guy about the temperature ratings...and in fact would suggest about 7200k

Ahhh they do too.....go to Autolamps on line. I got my kit from them full philps other than the wiring harness. Philips bulbs and phillips balast I freaking love it and will put one in my beater CRX as soon as funds allow it.

like many things in life, QUALITY is the #1 factor. in general, HIDs tend to do very well with projectors. but OEM HID relectors also put out a lot of high quality light. it's when you start to do retrofits that you get into trouble. reflectors are not focused properly for the light pattern put out by HID bulbs, high quality projectors tend to be more forgiving of it. if he has the typical aftermarket projectors you can get on e-bay or anywhere else, putting HID into them is just wasting your money. the projector itself is of such poor quality that you could put a searchlight into one and not get decent results.

i have a projector conversion and yes, they are a little more light resticting than my stock ones...but I can still see fine with them. i wouldnt think any thing quality could come from tenzo r, but they proved my wrong as far as projectors go

and one more thing about projector lens with hid
You can see more tints(yellow on 4300, 6000 blue,etc)
with the projector lens, maybe is the angel of the lens that does that.
anyway, HID is sure worth it.
In face i am getting one for christmas(finally make up my mind)
the price seem to be good too..
mcculloch6000k-330shipped
Hella6000k(not sure)-400+ship
I like hella and phillps better than bosch

ok.. first of all, they are right about your projectors maybe being shitty, but they will still work.

get philips/hella ONLY

dont get ANYTHING over 4300K.. 6000, 7000, 8000, and all those other BS kits are just a waste of money, and they will not look anything like the BMW's or Audi's like they are advertised..

and the conversion will not take 2 hours.. it will take about 20 mins..

all i am saying is that HID's will be very bright in terms of on coming traffic looking at your headlights....they will be blinded with your stock headlamps...now projectors may not be perfect either, but at least they won't blind oncoming traffic...

I have to disagree for one very simple reason. I have seen 2 examples of HID put into aftermarket projector headlights, one of them done professionally at a cost of $700 by hids4less, and they both sucked.

I have opened up a set of the aftermarket projectors. the portion of the projector that reflects the light back towards the focusing lense was of such poor quality, that the reflective coating was bubbled, peeling, and cracked. APC probably has about $10 invested in the R&D on these products.

all of the aftermarket projectors I have seen use a H1 bulb. the H1 bulb has a filiment in it oriented like this -- HID bulbs have their "filiment" oriented like this | yes I know it's not reeally a filiment in HIDs but the idea is exactly the same. light leaves the 2 bulbs in dramatically different patterns. the reflector in the aftermarket projector is optimized(maybe) for light in the pattern of the H1 bulb. projectors designed for HIDs have a differnt shaped focusing reflector.
