Help!! P0118 code
I joined this forum because I have a 1996 Honda Accord and my check engine light is on and brought up two codes P0300 and P0118, we just replaced the spark plugs, and are going to replace the thermostat but I keep getting told that the thermostat is not going to solve our coolant temp problem. My questions are...is this true, do I need to buy an ECT sensor? And when we replaced the spark plugs there was a bit of an excessive amount of oil in the housing, we plan on replacing the valve cover because we could tell that that is where the leak is but I need to know what's causing my honda to start when it wants to, not when it's told to. Is it the P0118 code? And if it's a temperature why hasn't my car overheated at all?
Very confused!

Okay the P0300 is a random misfire, and the P0118 code is engine coolant temperature. I've been reading up on both codes and found out that if the temperature isn't reading correctly, if the temperature sensor and/or thermostat is not working correctly it could cause a no start situation. I just took the car to the mechanic, I'm going to let them deal with it for the time being, only because my father insisted that his mechanic take a look at it. Thank you for your quick reply!
[QUOTE=Melony O'Harra;47531683] Hi I recently purchased a 96 Honda accord with the same code(p0118). I have replaced the temperature sensor and the temperature switch to which no avail. I would really like to know what you have learned about this problem.
