I have a 97 Honda accord v6 I am a delivery driver so I use my car a lot, tonight I was on a delivery when I came back out to my car I started it up and the engine light and the abs light came on and my car would not come out of park I cut off and started it again about 3 more times still wouldn't come out of park so then I stuck the key in the hole beside the gear shifter (I think it said shift lock on it) and it came out of park I backed up and then put in d4 and noticed the green light was not on around the d4 on the dash and it acted like it didn't want to go I pushed the pedal a few times and finally it went but wouldn't change gears and smoke was coming out of my exhaust pipe I drove it about a mile and a half in first gear back to my work where it is currently stuck at if anybody has any ideas on what it could be please let me know my car is my job so really need to get it fixed in the next couple of days or I won't have a job! Get the trouble code(s) read and post them the trouble code numbers.

Behind the ashtray is an OBD-II port (aka Data Link Connector). With the exception of California, in most states, places like Autozone, O'reillys, etc. will read the OBD II trouble codes for free.

Although your car also has a blue Service Check Connector to also get troubles codes by jumping the connector and counting the flashing Check Engine Light and/or Transmission D4 light; it is better to get the OBD-II codes read instead from the OBD II port behind the ashtray.

Also, take a look at your battery connections for now.

Pull under-hood Fuse No. 39 (7.5A) for 10 seconds and plug back in, to reset the ECM. See if you're able to temporarily drive it to a parts store to get the trouble codes read.
