Default H23A Vtec

I just swapped a H23a Vtec into my 1998 Honda Accord. Everything works well except i can't rev over 4000 rpm and my vtec wont come in. Can someone help me

p.s i'm using my stock ECU. I thought it would work cos both engines are OBDII

Was your stock engine VTEC or NonVTEC?

If it was Non VTEC you will need to buy an OBD2 VTEC ECU.

CEL light on or any Diagnostic Trouble codes?

Probably have to repin/wire the VTEC wires to the ECU. It could be the reverse in the JDM H23 VTEC. Did everything hook right up or did you have to splice/add any wires or connectors?

Everything got hooked back up. the only thing i had to do was match up my four wires on the distributor that came with the H23. Mine had 4 wires for the distributor but the one that came wit the H23 had 8.

The only trouble code that came up was about the vtec circuit

I have a 1998 Honda Accord Lx 5 spd and i am wandering if i should get the H23A, or
F20B?
This would be my first engine swap and i don't know what the difference is, and i just need to know which one would be easier and if they will work with the same transmission that came with the car stock?

Have you checked the TPS and MAP sensors to make sure they are not backward? I did that once and the car wouldn't run or rev past 2K before shutting off. Switched them around and everything worked perfectly. Good luck!

Get the H22a, better swap, faster for crying out loud the F20B was made for the 2 liter euro market. Get a kit with the mount, ECU and Tranny From like JDM source or HMO or another repitable dealer. Buying a tranny and engine kit better. Which reminds me I have a F22 auto for sale.
