Default H22a crunch time

hey guys i'm sick of my motor and i what the H22 i suck at saving money so if i just save my cash little by little it'll take a @ucking life time. if i sell some not so nessary stuff i'll get there alot faster. thanks for letting me wine

edit: if you've never been able to save money now's the time to start. but by the time you save or make 3-4K to drop on a motor you won't want to spend it.

figure it'll run $3500 before its all said and done. even if you do it yourself. between power steering lines splices. bad sensors. etc...

how much do you think a swap should cost, said and done?

id love to see one of these fabricated PS lines. i went to quite a few shops and fabrication shops and they all laughed at me when I asked them what I wanted them to do

even if he installs it himself he'll at least need to drop 3.5-4k into it. there is more to it than buying a motor from osaka for $2K that may not even run. if you want it done right atleast.

thanks KTeller8 i got a little jar at the shop with a picture of and H22 on it. I started saving like a week ago and i'm up to like $30 yea a long way to go but its well worth it i think.

Me? it wouldnt cost me nearly that much. hell, h22a's are sold around here in these local junkyards for around $1300. and self installation plus having peices of lines and hoses laying around to do it. also, junkyards have most sensors that would be broken for dirt cheap.

Of course, this is me, and i have free access to a shop, with any tool imaginable.
There's just no way it would end up being that expensive just for the swap itself for me.

well this is what it cost me:

$2200 = H22 with LSD Tranny
$200 = DC 4-2-1 Headers
$60 = custom P/S Line
$10 = for extending the b pipe on the Header
$100 = for all belts and water pump (I just wanted all of them new)
$100 = for all the rest of the misc. parts including all of the fluid.
$Free = Labor (completed swap in one day with my buddies)

Total = $2670

and I suppose the DC Sports header was used.

2300 is full swap from my shop, engine, tranny and ecu
motor alone can be done for 1500
00000 to keep the stock header, they are good as they are great design
150 if misc. parts/ fluids, plugs, this and that
0000 for self install.
27 for PS line

you shouldnt spend no more then 2500 for your engine, tranny and ecu .. never
even thats high

I spent 2400 for my jdm h22 with lsd and paid a little over 100 for parts and 500 for labor. If i had the time to do it myself, i would have saved alot.

the water pump alone is $100 and about $60 for the timing belts, how you'd get them for $100
no new clutch??
should have also bought a new timing belt auto tensioner.
you should have replaced radiator hoses, spark plug seals, valve cover gasket, cam seals, header gasket, spark plugs/ wires, distributor cap, rotor, new axles would be a good idea too.
a high flow cat is also a good idea too since your chopping up the exhuast anyways.

new axles would be a good idea too.

axles should be ok IMO and the cat isnt a bad idea,but if you need to do it as cheap as possible them well. dont

it didnt cost me that much for a water pump i think 57-64 dollars, and the belts were cheap when i did mine.

did you use honda timing belts and water pump? maybe that's why.

i needed axles cause of the auto-manual swap, but if you got 100k+on stock axles you should just change them before they break.

i know i'm pretty **** wanted alot of stuff done so i would have no problems, but doing things now is easier than doing them later. i know people are trying to do it cheap as possible, but those are usually the people who post months later about "oil in spark plugs" or "there's a rattling noise by my timming belt". you know stuff that they cheapened out on that they end up replacing anyways. i just don't think people should get into an h22 swap thinking they can get it done cheap.
you may find a cheap motor swap,do labor yourself, and skip some new bolt-ons, but invest the money into doing all the maintenance items.

this is exactly what I am looking for. I had one guy quote me $2k just for the labor on the swap!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone know of a good shop in MI that will do a swap for a good price? I know there has to be a coupel out in Chicago. I could make a trip out there no problem.

My swap is being completed RIGHT now as I write this. Here are my cost as its been a pain in the *** from the begining.

h22a w/ auto. tranny= $2215 w/ shipping
Had bad motor mount= $165 from Honda
Belt/seals from Honda= $200
Paying to have put in= $1000

honestly the avg price is about $900 +/- $100

B18/B16 civic swaps i heard as low as low as 600-700, but those are easier than a H22 into an accord.

for $500 he either got a deal from someone he knows or the shop had no clue what they were getting themselves into. in which case they either will mess it up or kick themselves for not charging more.
