Default F22a6 tranny took a crap... what transmission can I use to replace it?

Searched with no luck.

My friends accord wagon has an f22a6 and the transmission no longer works due to a hole big enough to fit my hand through.

The question is what transmissions are compatable with this motor? I have an H22 tranny laying around and I'd like to know if it would fit before I waste my time dragging it over to his place. Thanks.

For any accord engine, Use only accord tranny. Do not use prelude tranny, your motor will not support the high rpm. Prelude tranny is short gear ratio so it spins fast and high, the engine won't keep up with it.

The h22 tranny will bolt right up. The engine rpm will be higher for a given speed (than the accord tranny), but it will work; better acceleration, but slower top speed.

Also will bolt up: h22, h23, f22, f23 trannys.

Since when is the car spinning the motor? I always thought the motor was the one moving the car.

don't mind mongtite, he posts a lot of garbage.

you can run an h series tranny without a problem...an h22 trans will be a good bit shorter and you will run at noticeably higher rpm, but an h23 trans is not a bad compromise of performance and livability (it falls in between the f series trannies and the h22 variants).

i don't post garbage, U can use it but the redline for f22 is 6500 rpm. Try it u'll see that at driving condition, the rpm will be very high, yes, you will have better acceleration and speed but it's not a good idead for f22 or f23 engine. This h22 tranny is made for 72-8000 rpm engine. If you have them, or experience with them, U know. Gas go up, and U are putting u're engine at high RPM almost all the time.

Already tried it.

He wasn't asking for your opinion on what the gas milage would be, but rather if the h22 tranny they have sitting around would bolt on and work. Reading comprehension is not your strong suit is it?

Yes, you are one-hundred percent correct. I have no experience with any form of work on an Accord. I also lack the ability to type in correct English.

You know nothing about what I have done or who I am, and I suggest you keep your useless, uninformed comments to yourself. I post on here to try to rectify the misinformation people like yourself spread like wildfire. I'm sorry but only I post hard fact and ideas I have already verified to work.

If you have anything else to bicker about use the PM function, I don't feel like cluttering the board going back and forth.

it will fit and work but the question is does your friend want the results

higher rpm and lower fuel economy for faster accelleration

Some people just don't get it....

I was 99% sure the bolt pattern was the same but I just wanted to check before I took the time to bring it over to my friends house.

As far as the gear ratios killing the gas milage and "ruining the motor" by keeping it in the higher RPMs all of the time. You greatly exagerate the difference. This is very similar to putting a d16 si/ex tranny onto a d15b7 (which I had on my last DD). The gas mileage is not changed by any more than one/two miles per gallon under normal driving conditions and it is a Honda motor (hitting the rev limiter faster doesn't hurt the car) Thanks for the input everyone.
