exaust problem?
I have a 1996 honda accord and while i was driving i heard a pop noise and my engine started making wierd noises along with a wierd smell and my exaust was puttering. While i was driving my engine started getting worse and it started to struggle while driving. When i got out of my car i noticed a red glow under my car. After looking underneath i noticed the beginning of my exaust under the front of the car was bright hot red. Now my engine vibrates really bad and its impossible to drive. I know nothing about cars but does anyone thing my engine is history or what causes the hot red under my car?
Could be that your catalytic converter is clogged. Did the red hot pipe stop at the converter?
If it is clogged that could explain the extreme heat build up = red exhaust pipe. And a clogged cat would also rob power and cause a poor idle due to restricted exhaust gas flow.
Is your check engine light on?

Are you familiar with cars yourself? There is a procedure that can be done to retrieve the codes yourself. Or if your not that familiar with automotive trouble shooting you can take your car to Autozone and have them read the codes (CEL) for Free. That will tell you why the CEL is on.
easy enough to see yourself to see if the catalytic converter is clogged. Try jacking the car up and pulling out the oxygen sensor (O2). We get customers cars in at work sometimes that are so bad can't even make it down the street. So to get them to the muffler shop w/o having to tow it there we pull an O2 sensor. It'll make the car loud as ****, but it'll allow enough exhaust flow to get you to the muffler shop at least.
Just be careful when removing them however, and coat them down with PB blaster or WD-40 or something as they'll likely be slightly difficult to get out.
