Default Engine sputter

Sorry guys this is my first post so this might seem kinda trivial.
Car: 92' Accord EX manual Trans all stock
When I am accelerating in any gear other than first, I get an unconformable jerking anywhere from 1000 to 2500 RPM. Anyone think they might know what it is? 256K miles on it and the timing belt needs to be changed but i cant afford it at the moment. if you need more information let me know.

Check your timing with a timing light, and check your motor mounts.

for some reason i am thinking that i could need to clean my fuel injection line. I was told about 3 months ago that i have carbon build-up that needs to be cleaned but I cant afford to get it done. any thoughts? It is getting worse by the way. I only drive short distances. and it seems to be knocking worse around 2K RPM.

change plugs, wires, cap, and rotor! then stop at the shell gas station and fill up on the highest octane fuel they sell that should clear it up

Does your engine have any problem accelerating in neutral? Do you have this problem above 2500 rpm's in your other gears?
