Engine ?
lol. i remember once that i was shifting hard when I first started driving and I was at like 80-85 in 3 gear and then i shifted and i went into 2nd..rpms were at like 7-7.5, my redline's 6.5...i thought I was in deep **** but it was only for a second or two and I don't think any damage happened to it . f23a4..do you think i caused any damage? i mean this was probably 8 months ago and i haven't noticed anything what so ever. what do you guys think?
there's probably no real major damage...i'd just be careful not to do it again...what could have happened would be floated valves or spun rod bearing, etc...but you should be able to hear the damage from that...
haha, yeah i was f-in lucky...I know a few people who have done this and none of them experince any problems. The car only had like 30k on it at that point...with 100k plus I probably would've had a problem. no real major damage...lol how about no damage
hopefully

wow...just wow
sleeves have nothing to do with revving...stroke and valvetrain are what have to do with it, and he mentioned nothing about wanting to rev higher, anyways, with sohc motors you have a good chance of not damaging valves when timing belts snap or mis-shifting, however w/ misshifting you could have spun a bearing or something along those lines, but if u dont hear godawful noises while driving coming from your engine i would say youre in the clear u lucky bastard

^^^ Sure! Actually...my post was sarcastic for a reason, he explained that he did this once, and that he was experiencing NO problems at all...typically in a situation where over revving the engine causes internal damage to componants you wouldnt notice immediately, the amount of time that has past since he did this (according to him) would lead to a common sense assumption that the engine is fine and that the accidental over rev had no negative effect on his internals.
But instead of putting that i figured it was pretty obvious and that being sarcastic was more appropriate...noob.

you obviously figured wrong seeing how you are the only person who thought this way. everybody else gave correct and honest comments/advice; you failed to do so.
btw, calling me a n00b just makes you look like a newb.

Anyways...it was sarcasm, the point was that the guy knows his engine is fine, and if its been MONTHS since it happened and the thing is still running tip top...what the hell do you think the answer is?
Noob.

good job.
As for the origional poster's question, There is more than likely no damage to your motor especially since it happened a couple months ago and you have not experienced any negative effects from the miss shift. Just be thankful that nothing happened and be more careful from now on.

Well how noticable would the noise be if I did something internally damaging to my engine? I have an intake and it's fairly loud at idle with the hood up, the only thing I can really hear are the pullies and I can't really notice anything else. I guess I'm kind of paranoid about it now for some reason....also, do you think my check engine light would be on if I did something?
as stated, the only thing you could have possibly done would be to spin a rod bearing...if so, it would just be an annoying LOUD ticking that got faster with engine speed...it would depend on the damage whether or not the CEL would come on...

for everyone.
