Icon2 electrical problem?

In my 97 accord LX my power door locks stopped working, checked the fuses and all seems to be good. Any other things that could be causing this?

Also, my windows roll up SUPER slow. (power windows)

Not sure what could be causing this, anything helps.

Thanks!

Track down the wires running from the fusebox to the lock actuators to check for cuts?

Check for broken wires between the left door hinges. The windows draw a lot of current. If all but a few strands are broken in a power window wire, the motors will run slow. If the wires are ok, try silicone spray lube on the front and rear glass channels. You'll find this at Carquest, NAPA, and at the dealership Parts Dept. It sprays on like water, then evaporates, but it leaves a lubricating film behind.

My car is also accord 97. I noticed at least the driver side window is much slower than before.

Try the silicone spray lube in the window channels. If your window switches are in the left door, and the right window works normally, the door wiring is ok. The same power and ground wires in the left door work both windows from the left door switches. If ONLY the RIGHT window was slow, that could be wires between the door hinges on either side.

If your power window switches are located in the center console, you could have frayed wires between the left door hinges. If that's the case, that window will stop working completely pretty soon as more strands of wire break.

I'm more familiar with Chrysler products; I know they have had extremely little trouble with window switches in the past. I've never heard of common problems with Honda window switches, but if you can't find any other cause of slow windows, remove the door panel, unplug the motor, and run a pair of heavy wires from the motor directly to a battery to see how fast the motor runs. If it runs normally that way, there's high resistance somewhere in the circuit. Door wiring and switch contacts are the things I'd suspect first.

If it still runs slow when connected directly to a battery, and lubing the channels makes no difference, it could be in the motor. As an example, GM has a lot of trouble with a thermal cutout inside the motors in a lot of their cars and trucks. It's a circuit breaker that trips to prevent damage to the motor, then resets automatically when it cools. The contacts become pitted and cause the motors to run slow or stop completely.

Caradiodoc,

Thanks for your information. I tested driver side windows this morning, feel like there is some friction on the glass. For example, I lowered the window all the way down, then tried close the windows, when the glass went up between 1/3 ~ 2/3 height, it was struggling, once it passed 2/3 height, it moved up fast. I guess the motor has a constant force to move window glass up or down. So the easy fix probably is using the silicone spray. I am looking to find one, I did not find it in local auto parts stores for past several weeks.

I also found a customer review on edmunds.com talk about it. http://www.edmunds.com/honda/accord/...merreview.html

A lot reviews in that website, I copy/paste the related below:

My tip for everyones weak motor widow troubles is to spray some lube on the window channels going vertically on each side, the problem is not the motor, it is binding friction on the glass sides itself. This will make the windows work like new.
