Default EGR Engine Code Question

I'm throwing an EGR code. I have an OBD1 JDM H22A.

I was reading on another site about people disconnecting the EGR completely. Is this possible, and if so what are the pros and cons about it.

I'm trying to keep myself from buying another EGR. Any advice welcomed! Thanks!

Well you'll fail smog.... screw the code....if your not having drivabilty probs then don' worry...if it bothers you that much disconnect the negitive battety cable and clear the code.....or on the other hand maybe your egr inlet to the intake in clogged and you need to remove the carbon.......let me know if i can help..

no need to disconnect battery to clear code remove back-up fuse under-hood fuse box for 15 seconds that will clear computer codes ,,

I dont have to worry about passing smog. I really just want to clear the code, but after checking with the local dealership, I have decided against replacing the EGR. I haven't taken a really close look at it yet, but I really want to find out about the option of removing it completely.

you could just take it off and custom make a plate that would block off the egr passage on the cylinder head...and you'd also need to plug up the vaccum lines...
