ECU/Emissions tests problems
Hi guys,
My father owns a 2002 accord lx. we live in massachusetts. he went to get his car inspected, and it failed the emissions test because the on board computer says that the "02 Out of Range" Code. (i think its P1604). He took it to a Honda Dealership, and theyre saying he needs a new computer, and that its $900 plus labour. Has anyone had this problem before, or know anything about this? All replies appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: ECU/Emissions tests problems (scussett)
Was it a P1607? A DTCode P1607 refers to an ECU Internal circuit failure A. That would require a dealership to replace the ECU.
There may be a DIY ECU circuit fix but I'm not 100%. There aren't as many documented DIY OBD2 ECU circuit fixes out there as the OBD1 ECU's.
P1149 - P1169 are O2 sensor related DTCodes.
I have never done an OBDII ECU swap with the immobilizer. Someone else will have to chime in to see if there may be a cheaper alternative to the dealerships $900 ECU. Maybe a junk yard ECU with the dealership reprogramming the immobilizer??????
