Do I need exhaust engine gasket.
1999 Accord 4 cylinder with 158K miles.
I dropped my exhaust to reseal the oil pan and found out that there was no gasket between the exhaust pipe and the engine.
Do I need one?
If I do which one to use? I have seen Permatex copper "Make a gasket". I have seen exhaust gaskets on Amazon in the range of three to seven dollars.
Your help is always appreciated,
Sam

If you are talking about the downtube from the exhaust header, yes there is a gasket.
It is a metal donut, Sometimes they can stick to the manifold or down tube, remove it and replace it with a new one. I would suggest Honda pieces. I've had pretty crappy luck with aftermarket ones.

Donut gasket or Metal O-ring?
These exhaust systems use both and they are not the same. The metal o-ring gasket is the one found between the upper exhaust manifold and the down pipe. The donut gasket, is found between the down pipe and the catalytic converter. Be careful what you ask for.

Looked up on Amazon:
or
and it looks like they both will fit.
Before ordering I am going to check with the dealer as well. The price might be compatible.
Thanks,
Sam

Looks like the aftermarket may have caught up, finally.
Lot of the older aftermarket designs were a hollow O ring made of sheetmetal. Not thebest for sealing.
