Default custom engine build

Alright, I wanna keep my accord, but I want to swap in an engine when this one ***** out. I was looking to get a used engine, but I want to be the only hands to ever work on it.... sooo, I decided on building a custom engine. My questions are; first, how would you go about starting, I imagined I would pick a block to start with.. and second question is, any recommendations?

pick a block, pick out pistons and rods, pick out bearings and start building.

H22 block would be a good starting point.
