Crankshaft seal replacment 95' ex
Im going to try and fix my friends 95' Accord EX, its leaking oil all over from what looks like the oil pump.A shop quoted him $1500 to fix it and thats just ridiculous. I'm fairly sure its the crank seal, Ive never replaced one of these and Im just wondering how much time this is going to take. Any tips or advice would be awesome

while you're at it (if the seal is the problem) replace everything that you would when doing a t-belt. You gotta take all that stuff of anyways to get to the seal. Also, go to your Local Honda dealer and buy the crank seal retainer kit. This will prevent the seal from popping out in the future. The reasons for replacing the t-belt are
1. Oil all over it which will degrade it
2. You are already in there to get the crank seal.
Reason to replace everything else:
Because you don't want to be doing all this crap again in the near future?

Not to be an a$$ but it's called the balance shaft seal retainer. If it has oil all over (ie. catastrophic oil loss) it's probably the front balance shaft seal that has fallen out of the front of the oil pump. It's pretty common for this to happen. I do agree with Yeuem that you should also think about replacing all other associated seals as well as install the retainer behind the timing cover, belts, and water pump so that you won't have to pull it all apart again afterwards.
