Default Clutch Master Cylinder Question

I'm replacing the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder in my 1996 Honda Accord LX. Cannot find any info on the Nissin 6B1 master cylinder that I removed from my car. ( In addition to the 6B1 in large letters, there is a 6B14E2 in smaller letters on the mounting flange of the clutch master cylinder ). This part is not compatible with Honda P/N 46920-SM4-A03 which seems to be the most common clutch master cylinder for this model car. Does anybody know where I might find a replacement for this part or possibly a repair kit for it ?

Why do you say that Honda part number 46920-SM4-A03 is not compatible with the part you removed? That part number is the only part number listed for all 94-97 5MT Accords. It is the OEM clutch master cylinder made by Nissin in Japan. The Nissin part number on the MC will not match anything listed in a Honda part number catalogue.

GhostAccord: I appreciate your response. I ordered and received Honda P/N 46920-SM4-A03, assuming that it would match the MC in my car. Unfortunately, it does not match. Wish I could send you a picture of the clutch MC I removed from my car and you could easily see the difference. Referring to page 12-5 of the Honda Service Manual, you are instructed to "pry out the cotter pin, and pull the pedal pin out of the yoke. Remove the nuts." This is done from the inside of the car. To remove the clutch MC from my car, you just disconnect the clutch pipe and reservoir hose from the MC (both the pipe and hose are inline); then, from the engine compartment, loosen and remove the two 12 mm nuts and spring lock washers that secure the clutch MC in place. So, Honda used at least two different clutch master cylinders in their 5th generation Accords. The problem still remains: Where do I find a MC that matches the one I removed from my car?

Yeah you lost me there. I really wish you could post a picture of your clutch system. All the 94-97 manual transmission accords that I have worked on are removed from the inside, as per the steps in the CD Accord Honda shop manual.

Can you find an image of your current MC online and post up a link?

Is this a North American Accord that you are working on?

Yes, I'm working on a North American Honda Accord with VIN: 1HGCD553XTA155463. This shows that this car was manufactured in the USA. I have not yet found an image of the current MC online; but, I'll continue looking.

does it look anything like the OEM one that I posted? Sounds like someone ether swapped out the OEM CMC or modified it so that it could be removed from the engine bay.

Is your push rod and yoke still attached to the clutch pedal assembly inside the car?

My CMC doesn't look anything like the OEM one that you posted. The ports, where the two pipes connect, on the side of my CMC, are 2-1/2" apart and the two ports are at the same level or height. If the CMC had been modified in some way, the two pipes connected to the side of the CMC likely would have to show signs of having been rebent to match up with the CMC - they do not. My push rod and yoke are still attached to the clutch pedal assembly inside the car. It's a lot easier to remove the CMC now from the engine bay - and not having to get inside the car first to remove the cotter pin and the two 12mm nuts there.

If you are unable to post up any pictures of what it is you are looking for I'm sorry but I don't think I'm going to be of any help.

Best of luck!
