Default Check engine light

I have a 94 accord lx and the check engine light is on.

Is there anywhere I can go that will read it for free?

Advanced Auto / NAPA type of stores should do it for free. Otherwise I think it's in the Accord FAQ you can use like an LED to get the code

You can read the code for free; at the top of the passenger side kick panel there is a BLUE 2 pin connector; jumper that with a wire and turn on the key to get the 'flash' code.

Repost with your code

I did the jumper thing and I got

6 long flashes then 3 short flashes.

My best guess is a o2 sensor.

It's not really free at autozone...

you pay to buy it to use it once and they buy it back...

But it does allow you to clear the code

Que?

They come out with their scan tool, plug it in, check the code, tell you what you want to know, unplug it, and walk back in. It's one of their free "services". You don't need to rent and return the scan tool.

Hi My 94 accord Lx light is also on. Im aware of how you can check it yourself by jump wiring the ecu unit. But I tried that it came up with a code 14 or 15 which is the idle air control valve or 15 being a ignition problem ( which it could be my ignition coil). I took it to a mechanic and had the idle air control valve replaced with a junk yard part. But the mechanic said he couldnt get the light off. The mechanic said put injector cleaner in the car because of it sitting for awhile and it sould take the light off. I was wondering where can I take the car to get the cars code pulled proffessionally because I took it to autozone and they said they wont do it on a 94 accord. Has anybody tried NAPA before.
