Center Console Removal? (2002 Accord lx)
Recently I overhauled the sound system in the car. The new head unit has an auxiliary port (iPlug) which is external to the unit and can be mounted anywhere in the car, as long as the cables are long enough, my plan is to run the wiring for this under my center console and through the bottom of my arm rest storage pocket.
How do i remove the center console (the part around the shifter, cup holder, etc. not the part where the HVAC and head unit are)?

Open the cupholder cover, grab that, and start pulling up. The cupholders will pop out. Then you can stick your fingers under the trim around the shifter, pull up, and that will pop out as well. Up front, under the radio, the piece that sits at ~45 deg angle (in front of the shifter), needs to come out. Stick a screwdriver around the edges and pry it out.
If you want to completely remove the center console:
You will find two screws (under the radio) for the panels under the steering wheel and the glovebox. Remove both of those. Open up the fusebox covers on either side of the dash, and remove the 2 screws there. Pop those panels out. Back to the center of the car, under the radio, you will find 2 screws on each side of the center console. Remove those. There will be 2 screws (from the top) holding the piece with the power outlet. There are 2 more behind the shifter. All those need to come out. Then, open up your arm rest storage pocket, and pry out the "floor" with a screwdriver. Behind that, you will find 2 screws.
That will give you plenty of movement of the center console to run your wires. If you want to take it out completely, you might need to loosen up the e-brake cables, so you can pull the handle up higher to clear the console as you're removing it.

Step #32 has an illustration on how to remove the center console:

Follow those instructions, it's for a trunk mounted CD changer and shows you how to run the wire from the head unit to the trunk.
The only pain as I recall was getting the wire under the carpet right behind the center console (the carpet for the back seats), but it can be done.
