Can't powder coat my alloy rims.
Oh gosh, dodged a big expensive bullet of fail yesterday!
I've been calling powder coating companies to find a good deal on my proposed 2-tone scheme to powder coat my OEM 8 spoke 2002 Accord rims. I had made a deal to get a Winston-Salem, NC company to do the work for some $600.00 but yesterday, another company called back and through a friendly chat he realized how far gone, corroded, and pitted my rims are. Apparently once that occurs, powder coat won't work that well due to "outgassing" of the alloy as the rims are cast from a mold. Goodness! I guess missing out on those OEM and NOS rims a few years ago really was a "big screwup."
So now I think I'll try to have inner tubes put into my tires to stop the leaks and start looking for an attractive 2-tone silver and black set of rims.
