Default a/c problem

i installed my a/c back on after having it off for about 2-3 years . but after i finished my a/c install, there were a few problems .

1. the car constantly revs up by itself when the a/c is on . is there any way to fix this ?

2. when i turn on the a/c, it still smells like discharged freon . is there a way to get rid of this smell ?

3. when i make a turn, i hear a loud strange sound coming from the engine bay . my guess is maybe that it is the a/c alternator belt . it sounds as if it is slipping off of the compressor and alternator when i am making a turn . it doesn't make the sound when i am driving straight or when the a/c is off . i checked the belt, and there is no sign of it appearing to have slipped off of the compressor or alternator . the belt is new and it is tightened down . can anyone explain the strange sound ?

install some leak dye

re-tension your a/c belt

it is usually red or greenish yellow in color (the visible ones) or an ultraviolet dye that they use a black light to see. It is added to the A/C system and will come out where the leak is.

The second problem, yes. The first problem, no. When you say it revs up, does it hold steady at a certain RPM or does it cycle up and down?

You probably need to clean your IACV. It is responsible for raising the idle during a/c usage. Does your engine normally idle at 750?

ok, but what about the stench problem ? someone told me that maybe a growth of mold might've formed in my vents from bacteria over a period of time while my a/c was off . they said that i could probably buy a can of disinfectant and spray it into the a/c intake . will this solve my stench problem ? if so, where would i need to spray the infectant into ?

i'd check to see if your drain tube is clogged. If it is, unclog it and then use a bleach/water solution and spray the crap out of your duct system and the box that your evaporator is in uder the dash......
