Default Brake Problems

I have a slight problem and I need some help from people who know more about honda's than I do.

I have a 95 Honda Accord EX With ABS.

and when I start it up in the morning I get a sound like a motor whineing and then my ABS light will pop on.

This is also coupled with the a problem that my brake pedal feels soft.

If I stomp on them for an emergency stop they stop but if I am just trying to ease into something I have to repeatedly pump the pedal to get it to stop.

Any ideas?

2 different systems on that car, Soft pedal could mean Master Cylinder is bypassing.
Creep test it; put it in gear and hold the brake pedal, if the pedal starts creeping toward the floor replace the master cylinder.

The ABS is probably throwing a "pump over run" code.
You can use the blue 2 pin service connection [top of passengerside kick panel] to get a flash code.
first thing to do is bleed out the ABS system. Then look carefully around the ABS pump unit and accumulator for seepage.
Often times the check valve goes bad and the accumulator won't hold pressure.

I don't know too much about Hondas either; but I did stay at a Holiday inn express last night.

Cool thank you for the help. That is exactly what happens... the pedal just kind creeps to the floor.

When replaceing the Brake Master Cylinder on a car with ABS is it different from replacing one from a car without ABS? I've done a few cars without ABS before, I just wanted to make sure that I won't screw something up if I try and replace it.

also could anyone recomend what kind of pads to replace the front pads with?

Thanks

Method of replacing the MC is no different. Maybe the MC part is different with ABS? But the method will be the same.

After installing it, you'll want to bleed the main brakes, then bleed the ABS.

Alright very cool.

Any tips on a good set of pads for the front brakes?

I've been happy with MetalMaster but lots of people don't like the dust or the fact that they wear rotors faster.

Any specific complaints about your stock pads? Want more braking power? Do they fade at the track? Do you race? Want less dust? Want less noise? The answers would help someone to recommend what you need.

I replaced the stock pads a while ago. I don't remember the brand that I got to replace them with but there is a ton of brake dust. As regards noise they aren't noisey at all. I would like to replace them with something that is a little cleaner and give a little more brakeing power.

This is my wifes car; it is pretty much a daily driver type thing.
