Default Need help with Clutch DIY - links please!

thank you, first of all

I have done about 15 write ups helping people as I learn myself. After searching two days now, I am striking out. Please, I need the help now.

I need to replace the clutch on my 1998 Honda Accord EX FA23A1 engine. I am looking for a good write up preferably with pictures.

Can someone please assist me? This will be my first clutch change. I have learned and have given so much here. Thank you again.

I don't have pictures, but this should help:

drain tranny fluid
undo shift linkage
remove slave cylinder
disconnect reverse light switch
remove starter
undo both axle nuts (I do it with wheels on the ground)
take off both front wheels
separate both lower ball joints
unbolt radius rods from both lower control arms
remove front motor mount
unbolt front subframe and remove
remove both axles
unbolt lower shield from block and tranny (not sure what this is called)
remove tranny mount and lower engine/tranny
remove tranny bolts
separate tranny from block
unbolt pressure plate and remove clutch
unbolt flywheel and get it resurfaced

reassemble in reverse order.

Wow, thanks for the advise and link

I think this will be enough to get started. I will try and document what I do.

Meanwhile, I ordered my EXEDY parts from ebay. Great price. Essentially, for the price I can get at Napa, I get a free flywheel - $185 without shipping or tax.

I was told since my slave or master are not leaking, there is no need to replace. However, I am curious why the clutch pedal is harder than I recall to push down and it feels spongy. Will this get resolved when I replace the clutch?

Cheers...thanks for the education. Any more links would be great.

I replaced clutch in driveway using jack stands and hydraulic jack. Also replaced axles while I was at it. I used the Haynes book. Worked out pretty well ....good enough instructions ...sorry i did not take the time to document and take pictures. ...haynes book was ~ $25.

The better part of two days for me. ....Lifting and geting the tranny back in position was tough ...even though I had help for my 16 y.o. son. Just did not want to line up and go onto the dowel pins. ...but finally after many tiring tries, it popped into place.
