When I bleed the cooling system on my 93 accord are these the steps I should follow.
1. fill radiator to top with fluid
2. replace rad cap and start engine
3. open (or totally take out not sure which) bleed screw
4. wait until a steady stream of coolant seeps out of bleed opening
5. tighten screw and fill radiator when cool

Dont have the car running with the bleeder loose. If the thermostat is closed and the car is cold, air will get sucked in at the bleeder.

You are also supposed to run the engine with the radiator cap off until the cooling fan comes on at least twice. Makes a lot of mess, but you will see tons of air coming out.
Don't forget to set the heater temp dial to max before you start, too.

It is usually shown in your owner's manual. But if you don't have it, post the year of the car and model (e.g. 19XX Accord, Civic) or google.Originally Posted by madracer

Doesn't need to be tight, you'll know when it's tight enough 'cause it'll stop spewing coolant. When you do bleed, make sure you to turn your heater blower on full blast.
I'm gonna find my service manual and get the right specs.

I just found the drain bolt for draining the block it's just to the left of the oil filter, 36lb-ft

Is it under with the oil filter or on top in the engine bay? And when do you need to drain the block?Originally Posted by holmesnmanny

to the left of it, you would need to if you remove the thermostat housing when doing the intake manifold as we're talking about in that other thread and when taking out the water pump, head off, stuff like that.Originally Posted by Bad_dude
