Big oops? While changing my valve cover gasket D:
Earlier today i was worling in my car to change the valve cover gasket and grommets when...
This happened D: .......
I've busted the nut via overtightening and was wondering if i could get this threading replaced and is it safe to drive with it like this for a little while as i don't have too much on me at the moment..

After you take off the valve cover the bolt for that will come right off with a closed wrench, probably a 10mm.
Just get another bolt from the junkyard.

I was using a ratchet with a 10mm socket when i was tightening it down then it jist broke off and disappeared somewhere taking most of the threasing along with so there not much thread if i were to get a new bolt and im just wondering if i can reolace tye threading so that when i get a nes bolt it tighten down toghtly and securely

And use an inch pound torque wrench. The nuts only call for about 80 inch pounds, that's not alot of force at all.

i don't think I've ever used a torque wrench on these bolts. Everything underneath the cover, absolutely, but everyone above is right. hit your local scrap yard and just grab a stud and nut for it. when you go to put it back on, if you don't have an inch pound torque wrench, use 1 finger and don't lean back on the wrench when tightening. Its about a half grunt on a scale of toddler to serena williams

I cant speak for others here, but being a machinist by trade, and a "work on my own stuff" kinda guy, I've learned (the hard way a few times LOL) what i can and cant get away with. If i don't know, or haven't done it yet, i will absolutely double check specs and go with that. but for these small things, don't reef on it, and it wont break is pretty much my rule of thumb.
