Default Auto to Triptronic Conversion

I was wondering that as 01 accords transmissions are controlled by solenoids and ECU. Where is the difference ? is it shifter only?

SIR cars were OBDII with a single PCM rather than separated ECU/TCU. With the correct PCM and shifter, the M6HA transmission could be controlled sequentially.

However IIRC you have a H4 transmission in your car.

If you would like the S-Matic system, you would need to convert to the F20B DOHC/M6HA along with the wiring harness, PCM and shifter from the '97-'01 Accord SiR.

It would be fun, but the M6HA is not known for its longevity.

Accords here in the US had the H4A from 90-97. 98-02 Accords then had the M6HA. M6HA has a pair of additional linear solenoids, divorced shift solenoids, and two added pressure sensors. This allows the AT PCM to control the transmission shift events more directly.

There is no way to currently control the M6HA by itself.

Forgive my ignorance, Mike, but what about the 5th gen prelude transmission?

Pretty sure they used the M6HA for an automatic on the '97-'01 Lude.

Hi Mad Mike,

Just taking my chance or luck if you can still answer this. 😃

Easiest thing would be to get a whole Smatic F20B/M6HA from a SiR with wiring harness/PCM and shifter. Can't recall if any of the 97-01 Preludes used triptronic. If they did that would be the car to look at for mounts.
Engine swap is similar to H22 swap.
M6HA, dunno what mount combo you can use to install into a CD chassis.
Probably a bit of fabrication.

IMO, not worth the problems.
97 EXR is Canadian for 97 EX.
90-97 Accords in North America used H4A transmissions.

Have fun.
