Auto trans problems
Hey guys. I have a 95 accord ex with a auto trans. Well I got the car last spring. And it was perfectly fine. Then it seemed that this winter the trans would slip when I accelerated slowly. For example if I was accelerating and it should shift a 4 grand, it would get to 4 grand then like the RPM's would jump real quick to 4250 or so. So it sounds like it is slipping. Now I did have the trans fluid changed back in october, but it was not flushed, obviously because of the age of the trans. Now I do shift through the gears sometimes, but nothing out of control. And it also seems that it slips whenever I am accelerating at low speeds. When I am on the interstate or anything like cruising at maybe 65+ it feels great and not a damn thing. So it just started getting horrible when it got really cold out, but it gets better as everything gets to operating temperature. Sorry for the rambling but trying to throw everything out there that could give any hint and how much it could be to fix. If its the trans and sounds like it is going then I am just going to swap the 5 speed, but what do yuo all think?
sounds like its the trans, you should definitely swap out the A/T for a 5 speed ... i bet it slips the worst in the morning when you drive it from a cold start ... that's when i noticed my A/T slipping
When you start your car put it in neutral and let it idle for 2-3 minutes. This engages the tranny fluid pump.
In extreme cold temperature the tranny fluid is thick and is really hard to get pumped through the tranny.
