Hi guys, I'm new to this site but from what I've seen, it looks like a aprehendable site to ask questions about hondas. Anyway, my dad bought a used honda accord 2000 EX last year and so far no problems until yesterday. Only a minor problem occured, the battery died on him and therefore required him to replace it with a new one. So after we replace it, the car starts perfectly and everything is a go, except for the radio. A code is required in order operate the radio, only problem is, we don't have the code. They forgot to give it to us when we bought the car. So I called the honda dealership here, and they said that it'll costs us around 80.00 to pull the radio out, look at the serial number, find it through honda's database, and imput the code. 80.00??? Did any of you guys run into this problem? Please let me know ASAP for the appointment is tomorrow. Thanks for your time guys. I truely appreciate it.

 

Bad news, You do have to get the serial number off the back and then they can look it up for you!

Good news it is really quite easy to pull the radio out yourself and get the code off the back.

What year and model of car is it??

 

the code is not on the back of the radio,the serial number is,if you get me the serial number,I can give you the code for free,I work at a dealer

 

one more thing,did you look in the glove box for a sticker wiyh the code or the serial on it,most dealers put it there.It will be on a little white sticker

 

bill-71SS, thanks for your imput. I looked in the glove box and the only thing I saw was this little sticker that had a long number on it. I doubt that it's the serial number but I'll give it to you anyway. I'll also post the VIN number if that'll help
