Adding hood struts to 1991 Honda Accord
On the 1991 Honda Accord the hood is opened in-added. No springs or struts. You just lift it up and use the hood brace /rod to hold it open.
Has anyone ever heard of putting struts on the hood (one right, one left) to make it easy to open, and keep open?
With struts holding it open if you are working on the engine, you would not have to work around the hood brace that keeps the hood up.
Also for folks like me that have a back that can go out at anytime, making the hood feel insanely heavy, struts would make it easy to open.
So folks your thoughts on this?

Thank you. I did actually see that. I'm not wild about the apparent effect on the fit of the hood that is mentioned at the end of the video.
There actually seems to be several universal kits around.
Again, thank you for responding.

Try Redline . I used their hood strut kit on my Accord.
The ends have a tab you can release the strut for extractions.
