Hello. I'm new to these forums but have found some good advice here before joining. My thanks in advance to all.

My ride - (5th gen)94 4dr. Accord EX-R - 202,000 kms and still rolling!

My ABS light came on last week, so I took it in to my well trusted dealership. I was told the left rear wheel ABS sensor has failed and that it would cost around $300-400 (CDN) to fix. I've put that on hold since the regular brakes are not impacted by this problem.

I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and if this is something easy enough to fix on my own? General advice on how to replace it would be most appreciated.

Look around the hub for that wheel. The ABS sensor is the only thing with an electrical wire. Maybe you have to take off the brake rotor to see it.

The sensor is usually held in with only 1 or 2 screws, then the wire is clipped to the suspension & body. You'll have to go in the trunk & under the carpeting to unplug the wiring. I don't have a '94 but it's probably along the most forward end of the trunk floor.

Check that wiring out first. If you're lucky, it's a loose/corroded plug or broken wiring that you can splice back together.

Then (with the brake rotor removed) look for a toothed ring that triggers that magnetic sensor. Sometimes they get mucked up with metal shavings stuck on or something like that???
